Name Change

So as some of you may know, I'm planning on legally changing my name to Eleni Vamvakari when I have the money. I'm thinking of changing my username here too but it has to be a good one cause this is my last chance to do it. So far, I've come up with these.
Eleni
Eleni83
El83
E83
Mystress-of-Music
Motor Mouth
Sexy-smoker
Supergreek
Bouzouki Queen
Do any of these sound good or can you give me a better suggestion? Maybe, I'll leave it as it is. Just thinking aloudhere. And since we're on the topic of name change, has anyone changed their name for reasons other than transsexual surgery or marriage? If so, how did it go for you as far as filling out forms, posting in the newspaper etc? What about SSI? Did you notice any break in your income or did the transaction run smoothly? I live in NJ and looked up the local laws and fees and figured out that if I can't have the $200 one waved, it will cost $481. But I'm using a service that'll help me with forms and that's $79. Plus, I don't know how much the newspapers will cost so..

Why do you want to change your real name?

I like Mystress-of-Music for your username.

I've never liked my first name, even when I was a child, and I'd rather not be associated with my extended family who've pretty much ruined my last. I've always loved the name Eleni. It's an ancient and special name and also has to do with being Greek. Vamvakaris is the last name of my favourite singer/musician who's been inspiring me for the last six years or so and I think it would be an honour to share his name. It's a pretty common one so I'm not trying to gain anything by using it except personal satisfaction. Mine would drop the s at the end cause I'm a woman. Plus, it makes me feel more confident in myself and makes me love myself more. Thanks for the compliment. I like that username too. Btw, I'm under Eleni Vamvakari on Facebook should anyone want to add me.

I like Tiffanitsa, but in the future if you do decide to change it, I like Mystress-of-Music, and I think Supergreek is great. LOL. it made me laugh. I think either of those would be nice.

I like Motor Mouth and Super Greek. Please don't consider any names with queen, mistress, princess, Star, or Angel as part of the name.

Yeah, you're probably right. To many people on here use those words now that I think of it. lol My motherused to call me Motor Mouth when I was really young cause I talked all the time. I still do. A few times, I put Supergreek as my name on msn.

i like mistress of music. i think it is cool. also super greek. motormouth is cliched.

as for changing your name, my sister in law did it. granted, we're talking about someone who is several fries shy of a happy meal. Although I don't know you, from the posts I've read, that would not seem to be a good description of your intelligence and common sense.

anyway,my sis in law thought that by changing her name, her entire life would be miraculously transformed. suddenly, all those pesky problems she had would poof!!!vaporize and she'd suddenly be presented with an entirely new clean slate. Guess what, the same ol' problems marched ahead of her out of the court room. She still had the crappy kids, dead end job, and health issues. She just had even more fun because no one knew what to call her. Her given name was debbie, which she changed to emily. To say the least I didn't win any brownie points when I accidentally called her "dummily."

As long as you rrealize that your name is the only thing that changes, and if this new persona gives you permission to have more confidence and a better self image, go for it!!! All my life I have hated my name. Then, when emily was metamorphosed, I thought "gosh what would happen if i did it?" After trying many names, I decided that as much as I hated mine, it would stay. My mom loved me enough to pick it, so I guess I felt like I was dishonoring her memmory by getting rid of it. In your situation I think if you have bad associations with yours then kick it out.

Thanks for the compliment. I usually consider myself a pretty intelligent person, though I don't gloat about it. Anyway, I'm fully aware that this won't change things. I'll still have to deal with my procrastination issues, my joblessness, my lack of mobility skills and I'll still need to take my Greek and bouzouki lessons if I want to become an expert at both. This is really a gift to myself, a sort of rebirth if you will but not in the instant transformation way.

lol That's okay. Sometimes, I forget to change the keyboard and wind up trying to type English with Greek letters to my nonGreek-speaking friends. Oops.
